Your Eyes Aren’t a Controller–Stop Treating Them Like One
I used to wear my gaming sessions like a badge of honor. You know! That’s about 5 hour consistently straight on a day? After the gaming session my neck felt like it was filled with cement, and somewhere around like 2 to 3. This is called the gaming addiction with the hyper screen time and back then I didn’t even know it. My bad!
The Part Nobody Talks About in the Pre-game Lobby–
You should know the gaming culture. It’s not like the book cover you see and then grab it. Most of people think wrong about the gaming culture. We celebrate the grind. We share our late night clips, brag about our ranked sessions, and follow streamers who play about 10+ hour on live camera. But what you haven’t seen is that no body is posting about their dry eye diagnosis or the tension headaches that won’t quit after a long session.
Digital Eye Strain(DES): is the most common hit in gaming industry. Your eyes blink up to 66% less when you are staring at screen. That means less moisture, more irritation, blurred vision. That burning sensation you have been chalking up to nothing. Millions of gamers deal with this every single day and just push through it.
Then there’s the sleep destruction. Blue light from your monitor suppresses melatonin – the hormone that tells your brain it’s time to shut down. Late night gaming doesn’t just keep you awake because you are having the fuck*ng fun, that is destroying your eye. And you should not forget the postural damage. Neck strain, lower back pain, and what physical therapists are now calling tech neck a forward head posture that puts up to 50 pounds of stress on your cervical spine. That is not a loading screen error. That is a real medical condition building slowly in your body.
What you can actually do—
Well, look I have told that things like the rule of 20-20-20, blue light glasses or monitor filters, hard stop on screens about 40 to 60 minutes before bed, adjust the setup. So I think I don't need to be more specific to go through this type of way, right?
At the last I want to say something more about that the screen time. That is respect the hardware you were born with. Understand!
Your gaming rig has a warranty. But your body doesn’t.
What is feel that is, I am not here to lecture you I am just a blog writer and the developer with some experience on game, doom-scrolling, some medical studies knowledge that’s it. I just wanna say to you is that “The best gamers aren’t the ones who grind the most hours and show people how much they can – but the the ones who can keep grinding for years.”
And that will only happen If you take care of the person behind the controller.
